Workshops

   1.  Simplified Structure (One Board Model)
By Mike Butler, Eureka UMC Ad Council Chair
Is your church moving to a Simplified Structure (one board)?  Already on it and need a refresher?  Need it to run more smoothly?  This is the training for you!  Mike Butler has been trained by Bishop Farr to provide this information.  This training/workshop is required for all who wish to adopt the new structure.

   2.  Justice Ministry:  Our District Vision
By Pastor Londia and the Vision Launch Team
Pastor Londia and the Vision Launch Team will present information on the district vision to establish a justice center that would be anchored by a regional African American new church plant. Hear reports on stated outcomes; regional aspects; potential partner organizations; and how congregations located outside the metropolitan area might be equipped.  We will conclude with Q&A.

Bio of Rev. Tina Harris
Rev. Tina answered her call to ministry in 2008.  She knows that God is using her to “encourage, equip, and empower people using the Word of God.”  She graduated with honors from DePaul University in Chicago (B.A. ’93) with a degree in American Studies, and worked in human resources for a couple of years before going to Northern Illinois University College of Law (’98 cum laude). Rev. Tina has a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology.

She has served the local church as the Pastor of Children & Youth and the Minister of Discipleship at St. James UMC and as Pastor at Grand Avenue Temple United Methodist Church in downtown Kansas City.  Rev. Tina feels strongly about giving voice to voiceless, welcoming the outsider, feeding the hungry and demonstrating Jesus’ unconditional love to all.  She has been recently appointed to serve as the Director of Mission, Service & Justice Ministries for the Missouri Conference.

An attorney, diversity expert, and active member of the community, this child of God has many gifts and interests, but only one true passion to love God with all her heart, mind and soul.

If you ask Rev. Tina what is one word that would describe the theme of her life, she would answer “SHINE.”  She believes that God lovingly and purposely handcrafted each and every one of us to Shine – and we should do so in every area of our lives.
